As Promised - A photo of the turquoise cast.[More:]
Bonus: the mister is included!

Note the addition of a bit of duct tape. She kept nibbling at the foot of the cast and worked through to her toes. Argh.

Today I had to take her back to the vet because she's nibbled the top of the cast down to where you can see the stitches. Double argh! The vet is going to take off the cast, bandage it and put a cone on her. He'll call later this afternoon to let me know when I can pick her up.

We've tried a cone on her before and she goes absolutely bonkers. I'm hoping that the vet can get her to accept it. I told him that I was afraid she'd hurt herself by going nuts but he insists she has to wear one. Hopefully the cage she'll be in will limit her movement enough she won't hurt herself.

Crossing fingers she does not hurt herself.

She is such a cutie and your mister is fiiiiiiine. Here's hoping she deals OK with the collar and has a speedy recovery!

Awww! Poor thing!

I really REALLY understand about those effing collars. Gah.

Aww, she is just the cutest dog ever.
i knew she would need the megaphonehead.
Is she a sheltie?
The sweetest dog i knew was sheltie, Jasmine.
She was a fine judge of music and if she liked what you were doing she would put her paws together in front of you and gaze at you with her cocked head.

Poor little boochie! My dog Owen had one of those casts once- they do look sort of funny, walking around with a cast on. Here's to hoping she gets well soon!

Get well quickly, you cute little thing! And your mister has nice eyes, too.

Thanks, bunnies!

ethylene, she's a mix - half Sheltie, half American Eskimo.

gaspode & redvixen, he's cute, sweet and truly once of the nicest guys on the planet. I still don't know how I nabbed him.

Regarding the beard: I prefer him clean-shaven, but he only grows it during the winter. He had grown it to Santa proportions this year; the longest it's ever been. I was going to take some photos but he got it trimmed this weekend and I missed out, darn it.

She really is the cutest frickin' dog and i don't usually throw around the praise without reason or obivous hyperbole.
The best animals end up with the frozen chicken leg look.
btw, if you haven't noticed, we've adopted your man.
He hasn't a choice in the matter.

Heh. He actually has an account, ethylene, but hasn't ever posted. And I agree she's the cutest dog. Every one who meets her says so. I think part of it is how excited she gets when she meets anyone for the first or the 100th time. She just looks so happy.

Anyway.

We have one unhappy pup at home. I didn't know that "sad, puppy dog eyes" could look quite so sad. The cats freaked out at seeing her with the cone on her head. I will, of course, take photos. Her leg is kinda gunked up from the bandage/cast and all but the incision itself looks good. Vet said she didn't need another bandage on it as long as the cone stays one. She'll get the stitches out next Thursday.

She's young and spry and will be stronger for having been through it.
And at least it's not nice out so she's not missing crazy springtime.

Poor poochie. My current Vet is a neat guy from Uganda of all places. When Moondoggie was sick last year before he died he got a "cone", but he called it an "Elizabethan Collar". That sounds so much more dignified than cone, don't you think?

Hard Times, deborah. Injured pets are sad anyway, and I think my vet's name for it: "The Cone of Shame" is apt. In their minds, the cone adds insult to injury. :) Good thing we are above succumbing to puppy-dog eyes. (yeah right)

Hang in there, and my good wishes to you and your sweetie (the mister, too).
