General admission tickets (not bought by being a member of the Police Fan Club) go on sale tomorrow. Maybe the price will go down. Or not. The Police in Toronto would be brilliant. I saw them in '82 (83?) and '84, LOL.
I sincerely hope I don't impulsively blow a buncha cash tonight.
I mean, like, the Pogues burned a hole in my wallet the instant someone (here!) mentioned they were coming to Chicago next month. Ghaaah. Total loss of control.
Dumb question, but will The Police on tour really be so different from Sting on tour? I mean, hasn't he been touring solo for years and doing Police songs the whole time? Not to diminish the other two dudes.
The other two dudes rock too. Stewart played with Miles Davis right after the Police broke up and has done some amazing soundtrack music since (Rumblefish!!), not to mention his goofy Klark Kent stuff, if you dig that. I think Andy did his album with Fripp of King Crimson while the Police were still together, and he's been busy since too.
Sting is way different from the Police, and if we're lucky they might write some new stuff, or just totally rework the old tunes...
I saw Sting on his first solo tour too, front row, maybe 20'-25 away from him, close enough to make eye contact. Amazing show. But totally different from a Police gig. Way more jazz and improv, and jazz improv on the Police covers, at least when I saw him.
keyyyy-rhistonacrutch! I had no idea Hot Tuna was still in business. Boy, does that take me back to '69, what I remember of it! I'm surprised they're still doin' it, but damn, it might just be worth the $200 bucks, and the long trip, to see those guys....
