OUCHIE!!! (Link to photo of a wound on my hand. Processed in photoshop to look slightly less icky).[More:]
I had my mandoline out to see what it would take to remove the flat blade and sharpen it. The wavy blade was raised up and the thing slipped in my hand. The result is the beginnings of a waffle cut on my hand. I guess I know the wavy blade is sharp...
Just realizing that the same hand I have a scar on the palm that took 14 stitches, and the finger that had 10.

Looks like a great place to play tic-tac-toe.

Ow! Ow! Ow! Hand and finger injuries are the hurtiest. So many nerve endings there.

I saw the thumbnail of that pic on Flickr, and that's enough for me. OUCH is right! I'm really glad it wasn't any worse. You could be missing a thumb right now.

Hahah iconomy. That was my first thought when I saw what I did. I jokingly wondered if I would have the courage or stupidity to make a nice cross-hatch look. I decided I didn't.

It honestly didn't hurt at all when I did it, that's one sharp blade. It was umm interesting seeing it from the underside of the mandoline, and that was the only way I knew I had cut it.

Sorry BP, I tried to de-ickify it and make it an interesting photograph. I don't think I would have lost a thumb, but I could have sliced off a bigger piece of meat. I guess it's a good thing I like to make my waffle cuts thin.

Aaiiiii!!!

On the plus side, you'll have a wicked scar.

That's a nice sharply made series of wounds. :) They should heal just fine if you keep them clean. Liquid skin would do a good job of keeping it covered, allowing you to use the hand. It does look like it should hurt when you move your thumb.

...kind of like papercuts on steroids.

Sweet!
When I do a really good job on myself, I like to take out a pen and add some character to the wound.

I love whatever you did to make the photo look less icky. It reminds me of the Silent Hill video games. Very surreal.

Well, if you're going to hurt yourself, Go all out and do a good job. Well done! (hope it heals well! and quickly!)

Plinth, that's great!

Eesh, I'm glad it's not any worse, eekacat. Take care and keep it clean.

Plinth, that is just too awesome!!!

Seriously this is not too bad. It just impressed me when I did it this morning. And honestly, it getting infected and having my hand rot off is better than I deserve. I think it's too damn cold outside for anything good and infective to invade...

eekacat, yikes and owwie! keep it clean and dry.

Plinth, excellent!
