Dice-K Has Landed -- Daisuke Matsuzaka, the $100 million pitcher, makes it to Fort Myers for BoSox spring training.
Poor guy. I thought he was hoping to play for a baseball team.

100 million for throwing a ball... Something is wrong with this pitcher (sic).

what are you, some kind of soccer fan?

Nooo, just someone who thinks twice about anyone getting paid 100 million for just about anything is a bit excessive, but hey that's the American way.

Dice-K? Can I call him Andrew?

How so?

Outside of America Ronaldo was being paid 18.5 million per year to play soccer a couple of years ago. Beckham was earning 28 million a year. Both more than Matsuzaka.

Most of the highest paid athletes are on American teams. That's simply because most of the sports teams that make the most money, and can pay that type of money, are in America.

Depends on your point of view. If your employer makes, say, 700 million dollars each year largely because of the work of only 28 or 40 people, don't you think that those people deserve to keep a goodly chunk of the money they bring in the door?

The Sox are one of the most profitable teams in professional sports.

So the inevitable series losses to the Yankees in the regular season, and the flameouts by BOTH these teams in the playoffs, will be all the more painful, I suppose.
