This is beautiful. I love Keb' Mo's voice. And this is one of the greatest songs ever written too.

"The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry"

In the mid-90s I worked a Voters For Choice event in Washington, DC and Kevin (Keb' Mo's real name is Kevin Moore) was my charge. I picked him up at the airport, dropped him off at his hotel, drove him to the gig site (DAR Constitution Hall), etc. On the way from his hotel to the gig he wanted to stop for AAA batteries and Lifesaver candies. I told him that would be fine and when we arrived at the shop he wanted to get out and do the shopping himself. Ordinarily I would think this was cool, but 1) we were already close to being late and 2) I was specifically told to not put him in public (he wasn't well known then, and really still isn't even though he has won a Grammy). So I told him to stay put and I would get the stuff for him. He is a really nice, down-to-Earth guy and felt uncomfortable with me running his errands, but when I told him that the guy producing the event would kill me if he learned I let him go out in public 15 minutes before the gig was to to start, he gave in. The producer has/had a reputation as a hot-head, and apparently Keb' had already been warned of this.

Another recollection I have of that event was picking up Gloria Steinem at the airport. She was working on her introductions for the event and asked me to find out if Kevin preferred to be called Keb' Mo' or Kevin Moore. He laughed and said he didn't care, but that Keb' Mo' was his stage persona and it may be better to use that. I dutifully passed that on.

Is Keb' getting airplay in the UK, jan?

Jan, do you have his eponymous debut album? It's very good and there are a few songs that are ALWAYS in my iTunes rotation.

So melancholy...the lyrics are beautiful, and I'm a sucker for well-written lyrics.

Wow, essexjan across the pond shares Keb' Mo' - and at least two other bunnies know his music. Downloading now. I have "Just Like You" -I think his second cd.

Downloading now, thank you jan!

Keb' doesn't get mainstream airplay but I heard him this morning on an internet station and decided to share a song. And I love that song. Hank Williams was a genius.

Was Keb a secret? He's been around for a long time it seems.
This divshare you've been using is cool but i wonder if people actually flag stuff. i like how you can listen to it and see how many other people downloaded it, too.

I found the divshare link on here the other day in response to a question someone had asked about file storage. I like that you can listen to something before you decide whether or not to download it.

Hank Williams was an amazing song writer. Still one of my favs. If you are a fan of Keb you might like his progenitor Taj Mahal.

I've seen Keb' Mo' in concert twice, and have most, if not all, of his albums. Thanks for this!
