What pets do you have and what are their names?→[More:]Inspired by the sugar glider love, I'm curious what everyone else here has pet-wise.
yay!! Let's do a pet photo thread!! *is shamelessly always up for a pet photo thread because her guys are so CUTE* That's Django on the left, the hyper springer spaniel, and Theo, the mostly mellow collie mix, on the right. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Runty long-haired cat - Chewie, cause she looks like Chewbacca
Big B&W short-haired cat - Walter AKA Wally, since he's a rogue just like Sir Walter Raleigh.
Anecdotally, Wally thinks he's a dog. He drinks out of the toilet, likes to take walks with the hu-mans, and will generally bark instead of meow. It's pretty creepy.
Tr33 you named a cat after Buju Banton?
You are my all time world record hero!
I have two cats, Pamplemousse and Henri, but we mostly call them Moose and Cool Breeze. I have a dog named Zasu who we mostly call Zaz, Beans, Pony and Shitmouth.
Fred, the Bichon Frisé. ≡ Click to see image ≡
He's awfully attached to my mom, and gets quite sullen when she's not home. He sometimes sits and waits for her by the door.
This is from his myspace that I made about two years ago. ::snort::
I have a female Jack Russel named Steve. People always complain about this, telling me Steve isn't a girls name. I tell them that I've always wanted a dog named Steve and animals generally don't have gender issues regarding names. Steve hates pandas.
I also have a rat named Yorick (who actually plays with and chases Steve), and two sugar gliders: Banzai and Bastard (guess which one bites).
Aaron has a buncha fish too, but so far they haven't been given names. Well except for ol' Zippy the Goldfish, so named cos he was one of a half dozen that were all supposed to be 'feeders' to entertain the larger more aggressive cichlids Aaron has. The others all got eaten within 2 days, but somehow Zippy has been smart, fast and aggro enough that he's survived for six months now despite horrendously hostile conditions in the big tank. When he was put in there, he was literally nothing but eyeballs and a yolk sac. Now he's over 2" long, chases the other fish around, and eats cichlid food (which is weird cos cichlid food = dried shrimp and goldfish are SUPPOSED to be herbivorous only...).
I half expect to come in some morning and discover he's grown shark teeth or something. Which I'd definitely take a photo of.
Just Coya (approx. 2 years). But she's like having two dogs, since she has the OCDness of a Border Collie and the Let's Eat Rocks FUN!!-ness of a lab. If she mellows out enough this year, we'll probably add to the nest. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Mike, you've obviously never seen Aaron's albino plecostomus chasing the little bitz of banana we drop in the tank for him at feeding time. Anything that doesn't get out of his way risks getting suckered to death... it's like Death By Hyperactive Whiskery Peach Vacuum Cleaner (or something like that). Primal!
CitrusFreak, that pic of Fred reminds me of something out of an old film noir. It evokes the same sort of mood as this (much imitated and parodied) painting. Tres awesome!
muddgirl: He looks so funny this winter because we didn't get him groomed (that picture is from last year). I wish I had a picture.
His fur is so soft I asked him if I could make slippers out of him. (I put my foot on him and said that - not that I ever would -- should anyone be crazy enought to think I was serious).
This started a whole conversation about Gus turning Gus into "Ton-Ton" and crawling in him to escape the cold. I guess you would have had to be there.
Anyway, he is such a lover. He is my buddy. Loves to play catch and tug-o-war.
youngergirl: sadly I do not have photos of the fish, sounds like I need to embark on a project. Zippy did get put into solitary and spent time in my room for awhile because he was giving one of the other fish in the big tank no end of hell (he's a right bully and if he senses weakness in any of his targets, he chews their fins off). Turns out that fish had something wrong with it anyhow (it died), thus Zippy was returned to the big tank to resume hell-raising.
I also have a used cat, who arrived with the name of Zoe. Before I knew her name, I was going to rename her Chloe, but once I found out her name, that seemed needlessly confusing. She's a calico and is the cutest cat ever to exist. (Alas, no digital photos to prove this.) While she has no gender issues, I do suspect she may be gay.
BP, Athena and Kayla have awesome faces!
jon, I met possibly the cutest bulldog ever the other morning. Her name was Princess Buttercup.
My wife's two cats Cider and Rusty. Rusty has a bent paw that he broke while living in the wild.
He lived on a campsite, and once the campsite owner threatened to start shooting all of the stray cats, starting with the one with the broken paw (Rusty). A woman rescued him and took him to a shelter, where my wife got him.
I also have an 'honorary pet', George's cat, Smokey, a tiny little grey and peach cat, around 20 years old, feisty little beast. I'm the only person who can pick her up. She loves me and when I'm at the farm she greets me on arrival and followsmeeverywhere.
Oliver and Abigail are litter mates, domestic shorthairs and will be four years old on April 1. Kaylee is an American Eskimo/Shetland Sheepdog mix and turned one year old February 2.
I have a cat named Stanley Kowalski. We don't get along. We also have two goldfish named Spider and Stacks. I get along with them just great. Stacks used to be black, but over time has turned gold. Apparently, that's common. Who knew?
Everyone here has seen photos of Silver the superdog. And I've also posted photos of Pesto. (Short for Pestocaticvs Gimpicvs Caesar). So you'll just get the names. My previous dogs were Moondog and Sundance, and Moondog Thundercloud has made his appearance here as well. Strangely I don't have any digital photos of Sundance Greatheart. I miss those boys.
Citrusfreak, my wife and I were both allergic to cats when we first got ours. Claritin makes the first several months comfortable, and by then you build up a tolerance (or die).
actually, in my neighborhood, there's this tall, hard looking, all deiseled out dude in a leather jacket who I always see walking his French bulldog down the Boulevard. Whenever the dog stops to do his business, he sniffs everything and walks around in circles before doing his thing, while the guy grumblkes like a long suffering husband. They're basically a perfect dysfunctional marraige. I kind of want them to adopt me.
Yeah, Once in a bar, me and a few buddies met this chick with a bulldog named 'Betty' in tow. I bent down, pint of Guinness in hand, to pet the pooch. Betty vigorously licked my face then took a couple enthusiastic laps at my pint. My friend Tony yelled "Jon, don't get the dog drunk, please!"
and that's the last thing I remember clearly. Thankfully, when I woke up there were no unexplained pawprints around. True story.
I figured it would work both ways: if she was being a good girl then it'd be cute. If she was being naughty, it would be ironic. My colleagues hate it and have decided to call her Honey instead. Stupid colleagues.
I have 2 cats: Zero aka Nigga (black long haired) and Ginger aka cracka (long haired ginger tabby). Zero is thus named because I determined his iq to be approximately 0.
Posting from my pda so no pics till I get home...
Charlie, my 10 year old. He was a stray as a six week old kitten. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Teddy. He's about 8 or nine years old. He was supposed to visit for four months - that was seven years ago. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Ally. Short for Sweet Home Alabama, the first song on the radio after we picked her out at the shelter. She's a Shepard/Pit mix. Great with us, not great with strangers. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Jersey. She was found sick and skeletal this past summer as a runty nine week old kitten. I like this picture as it shows her carrying one of her toys. She moves her toys around from room to room. ≡ Click to see image ≡
They had names when we got them at the shelter three years ago. Elvis because he "sang" all night when he was first brought in, and Depot because someone found him behind a Home Depot. They were buddies at the shelter, though, so we had to take them both.

Geely's gone now (died in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner a few years back) but he was the cutest thing ever. I don't have any dogs currently. I swear I will get one when I can finally move out.
