A small rant [More:]I heard a sound bite from Shrub yesterday in which he talked about visiting a high tech firm and taking a tour and that he didn't understand a thing, and the audience tittered.

The thing that has me steamed is that there is no excuse for the holder of the highest office in the country to openly legitimize ignorance. It's not funny - it's criminal. And no, the irony of NCLB is not lost on me.

I'll step down from the soapbox now.
He's been promoting ignorance since he started running in 1999... Of all the bad shit that is now MAYBE catching up to him, I don't think that's close yet...

I gotta agree with plinth. Ignorance, and his enjoyment and pride in his ignorance, is what makes it hard to respect him. At least I know that Cheney and Rumsfeld and so many other people in his cabinet are smart (if misguided in my opinion). But him saying repeatedly "Well, garsh, I dunno! Isn't that funny?" just makes me more and more upset that people elected a puppet who doesn't know enough to recognize there are strings attached to his limbs. There is no excuse for the person with the highest office in our country to delight in not knowing something. How can we expect other countries to respect us if our pres doesn't even respect himself? Sorry to steal your soapbox, plinth. I'll clean it off and return it right away.
