I am a fugitive from the law. →[More:]I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Just got a letter from the DMV telling me that my license is being suspended because I failed to respond to a summons.

I got a ticket in March for not getting anmy car inspected on time. But I couldn't read the cop's handwriting, and I didn't know how much I owed, and I figured I'd wait for a second notice so I'd know how much to pay. (Yes, I realize this is idiotic.)

Anyway. I, umm ... got that second notice today.

Hey, no cryin'. That was a honky tonk thread a while back...

Call up the DMV and say you couldn't read the first notice, it should have been typed clearly, not written.
Explain they shouldn't suspend your license and mention you only received the 2nd notice only today. State day when you'll pay up. ITMT, don't drive till everything is cleared up because you'll be in violation of the law — even if the law wuz wrong initially.

By the way, if you get caught driving on a suspended license, it's highly likely you'll get cuffed and stuffed and your car impounded. I learned that the hard way, and it almost cost me my job.

Yeah, our family had a leetle experience with that years ago..

Get a ride, go pay up, problem solved. A PITB, but you'll live.

Yeah, the suspension doesn't take effect for another month, so I can just drive myself in, apparently. But it is a big bad stupid thing.
