Stalking me just got a whole lot easier, thanks to BuddyPing, a social networking site (UK only) that tracks your location using your mobile phone.[More:]

One of my marketing buddies just told me about this. You can text it to find out if any of your friends are nearby, or it'll text you when they're nearby, or something like that, it's very confusing.

Frunkly, I think you'd need a lot of friends (not to mention an aversion to just picking up the phone and calling them) for this to be useful.

Although it will automatically geo-tag your Flickr photos for you, so that's handy, I guess.
I really hate the stalkiness of the web. I changed my eBay user name because someone I work with emailed me once to quiz me about one of my purchases, as if he had some right to do so. It skeeved me out that he was spying on me like that, so I changed my ID. A couple of years later, someone else was given my old eBay ID and he emailed me about something she'd bought thinking it was still my ID.

Jesus, that's the last thing I need at the moment. Fecking work stalker.

In other news, Amazon.co.uk has Wiis in stock and I've just ordered one. Yay for wiisearcher and the F5 button.

That's pretty rubbish.

*And very, very frightening*

Am I the only one who read that as "BuddyPig"? The unfortunate imagery on that one was downright lurid I tell you. Oink, I say. Oink.

Did you get a Wii?

Also - sheesh, buddyping found me reasonably accurately - right town but out by about 0.5 miles. Nothing a that a 100KT nuclear device wouldn't sort out.

Is it just the shaft or the whole package?

And of stalkeriness (at first i thought it was TheDonF who posted it): despise it almost beyond reason, but, face it, at this point we're almost all bagged and tagged except those of us who wander off the grids on foot and/or without electronics of any kind.

Here's to the hinterland.
Bring supplies and be prepared.

Yeah, I got a Wii!

Sweet! It's been a nightmare trying to find one. Most of the sites wiisearcher lists are blocked by my company's firewall, so I've missed out 2 or 3 times this week and have had to wait for either Amazon or Play to come up trumps.

But, w00t, I have a Wii! Now, what games do I want? Anyone?

yay! does this mean i can stalk chrismear?!?! weeeeee! ^_^

um, wait.

ahem...

In all seriousness I think the whole global tracking thing and the big-brother's-cameras-are-everywhere trends are very disturbing, but I don't think we'll avoid them in the end.

Mine's about a mile and a half out. It didn't give me any assurance that it wouldn't publish my email address for all to see - I can't see it there, but they should give some kind of indication as to what they will use it for, surely?
