Here is a very short interview from 1942 with Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů. I found his first reply almost heartbreaking.[More:]
As a tip of the cap to Martinů, here is his first cello concerto (I, II, III), which conjures some nostalgic, though not unclouded, visions for me. And here is the awesome third symphony (I, II, III), wearing a more frightening mien.
