There's a classic Guindon cartoon, with a very large, flat-tailed rodent responding to an obviously tourist family in a car pulled over to the side of the road. The big beaver is saying, "Where is Sixteen Mile Road you say? Hmmmm...."
If you're not familiar with Detroit, you would need to click here, find where it says "Troy" along I-75, and look at the east-west road going through that same spot; then drag the image to the left so as to see further east... and follow that road a bit.
Now that I've read the article, I could have told Troy their tactic wouldn't work. The Hooters near us opened without a liquor license. Fortunately, there is a little loophole in Texas law that says that even without a liquor license, there is nothing stopping a restaurant from giving beer away for free ;-)
Doohickie, many years ago in Ontario they had rules that could block a bar from having an adult entertainment license (strippers) but they could not block a liquor licensed restaurant from the adult license. A restaurant had to sell more food than booze. So clubs opened where every drink ordered came with a slice of pizza. Your cost was split 49 cents booze 51 cents pizza.
