Simplifying how I use the intertubes. (give me the web host advice.) [More:]It has come to be time for me to ditch my current web host - a host I have used for 9 years. A host that used to be dreamy. A host that is just continually pissing me off these days - mostly over email issues and mysql issues. I don't require 100% uptime - because DUH it doesn't exist. It would be a nice change of pace to not be having issues every couple of days with email and/or mysql, though.

(I shall also be merging 3 sites when I do this move. That's how I'm simplifying my use of the intertubes.)

So tell me dear bunnies about the goodly hosts out there.

I am considering A Small Orange.
I have already dismissed switching to Media Temple.

I am dumping dreamhost (and this has not been a decision I have taken lightly since I've been there nine fucking years.)

I do not need a ton of space or bandwidth. I would require mysql.

If you have suggestions throw them at me. Thank you ever so much kind bunnies.

What a coincidence, I'm dumping Dreamhost, too. But we're going with Media Temple.

I used to host with omnis.com -- they're cheap and customer friendly -- you can actually get them on the phone, for instance. The only reason I left was I outgrew their options at the time.

With Bluedomino, if you pay for an annual "extreme" account you get a ton of Coffeecup software. You may not need or want it but it's a really good deal. What did you ever decide for your business cards?

(I dismissed media temple because the grid server plan isn't yet as hardy as I would like. One of my clients switched to mt last October and they do get consistently better each month but it's still not to the point where I'd like it to be.)

Their other plans might be better though. I do not require any dedicated type of hosting, though.

auntbunny - I held off on printing the business cards because while I figured out where I'll get them done and what they'll look like - I decided it would be silly to get a bunch of cards printed if I'm going to be moving/switching how my websites are dealt with. (Since I'm merging two sites that I use for business with my personal site.)

Metachat uses rimu hosting
I'm also a fan of 1&1

Keep away from 1&1. They're awful. Do a search on askmefi if you need proof.
