I need virtual hugs. Pretty please. [More:]My guy is out working on our future house 4 days a week and here with me and the kiddos for the other 3. He leaves Tuesday mornings and gets back around lunchtime on Saturday. After 2 weeks, I've been turning into a blubbery mess, especially on Mondays. :-(

It'll get better. The house will be finished and you'll get to be together again. There is an end to the madness.

Buck up girl, in the tradition of strong Arkansas country women, and show the man you appreciate his work by making his comings and goings as easy as possible. Spring is coming, and you've a garden to plan out at the new place, and seed catalogs to order and read. It isn't easy for him either, leaving your warm bed, to go scrape and sand and hammer and paint, 4 days straight, while there is light.

So, look ahead to longer, brighter days, and the smell of new paint, in a home which he is making for you. You're a lucky woman, and you know it. Make sure he does, too. And if you are going to blubber, blubber tears of joy.

And you'll end up with your guy AND a new house... Is there a solid target completion date? That makes it easier... Get INTO something the nights he's away: Bridge or Bowling every Tuesday, IRC with the bunnies every Wed & Fri, Must See TV on Thurs, whatever...

in the meantime...

that's a bear hug...

Oh, y'all. So many thank-yous already!
I blubbered on him last night, but he didn't mind.
He's been bringing home pictures of the progress.

Thanks again for the reminders that it's all for the best.
:-) (/me blubbers some more)

Owner built houses can't be beat. I am already envious of your future home.

I hear you, lilywing; my husband and I have been living apart since July as he works on a TV series being shot in another city. He comes home for a weekend or perhaps a little longer about every three weeks, we had a couple weeks at Christmas and a month break in august/september.

It's a little bizarre since we didn't even spend one night apart in the first 10 years we were together (though in the last seven years, he's often been away for shoots, up to three weeks)... but our long saga is finally coming to an end, I think. They are wrapping up shooting in early February, and I'm going there to (hopefully) settle on a place for us to live there, then we come back here together before the next project begins, to embark on the horror of packing, moving, etc., etc.

I was heartsick in the beginning, but promised myself I wouldn't make things more difficult for him, that I would spend my time constructively to also make our future better once this was over. I don't know how well I accomplished that, but I was able to keep things together so that he didn't have to worry about me along with all his other worries and responsibilities. And I managed to lose a lot of weight... heh. It was great for that! Wait 'til we start living together again and I make him eat healthy all the time... He'll be ready to start another project in yet another city. :)

Keep your eyes on the prize, lilywing, and be strong... the ending will be so sweet.

I don't handle separation very well, either. Hang in there and keep the end in sight.
