I find it hard to form an opinion on the remakes because I'm so familiar with the US versions, but the new ones really work for me. The UK Mac seems a lot less smug than his US counterpart.

Yeah, the UK Mac is much less smug than the US Mac, and the UK PC comes off as kind of a jerk, especially when compared to the US PC. I prefer the Mac in these commercials, but not in the US ones.

let me qualify by saying I'm an unrepentant rabid Mac user even and I don't like the US 'Mac' guy... to me, especially in the early ad campaign he was written as a complete hipster douchebag, where the US 'PC' guy is just an adorably hapless geek who evokes more sympathy than disdain.

the UK 'PC' dude tho, holy cow - good casting for that role - he seems just the sort of insufferably uptight nitwit that infests legal and actuarial businesses worldwide, and the 'Mac' guy for the UK ads is so much more down to earth.

Amazing how folks can have different views on such things. Mac user here who finds the US Mac character to be very sympathetic. Even downright nice/encouraging to the PC character. *shrug*

I find the UK ads funnier and the UK PC character more annoying, while I find the UK Mac character more sarcastic and somewhat condescending. That said, I think the UK adverts are more biting than the US ads which I find silly and not all that good at convincing PC users to switch.
