A Bunch of Free, Legal mp3s [More:]

I have a subscription to this mag, it is reputable. They ask for an email address, but that is it.
What kind of MP3s would one get?

Mostly alt-rock, indie, singer-songwriter stuff, but there is some folk, roots and traditional stuff on there as well.

Not much electronic and no harder stuff.

Biggest names on there appear to be Pedro the Lion and Over the Rhine.

In my alley, there's hardly a better response to my question. I'm signing up five minutes ago. Thanks.

Um. And upon signing up I realized I misunderstood you. I thought you signed up and got emailed with availabe mp3s.

As I know understand it, the mp3 page becomes available as soon as you sign up. Cool.

This is from Paste Magazine, which is a good music magazine that tends to cover more grownup music than, say, CMJ or Rolling Stone. They're known for bringing artists who have a small following to a bigger audience. Each month, the magazine comes with a sampler CD. It's always a bit hit-or-miss; some great stuff, some not-so. But there's usually at least a few keepers, and a few advance tracks from the big names. However, Paste mostly isn't about big names, it's about new artists or people doing something a bit less mainstream or youth-appeal-ish.

My dad somehow got a free subscription to Paste with the current internet service. It's not his type of music (he's diehard classical-only because he can't stand anything with a drum/bass beat, which made for a really bad pop-culture education as I was growing up), so I get to read Paste and keep the free CDs they include and all in all yay.
