I have a phone interview in a little over an hour. Should I be doing anything? I feel like I should be frantically... doing something.
Relax. Write down any questions you may want to ask so you don't forget them. Write done any points you want to make during the conversation so you don't forget them either. Relax.
Yeah, drink for sure...I suffer from a dry mouth during interviews, or any situation that makes me nervous, and maybe if you pre-hydrate it will help avoid that? You know, assuming you have the same issue anyway...
But it's part-time, for basically the same stuff I've been doing, just with a way-cool organization that does all sorts of good things. And they've very specifically said it will only be 30min, so I don't feel it's going to be particularly in-depth. So... yeah.
Good luck! Have you researched the organization? I'm interviewing potential interns right now, and I am quite disappointed when one has no questions at all about the company, our work, team, etc. A well-researched and phrased question can make all the difference!
Hee, essexjan. I'm actually probably more presentable right now than usual -- I have to run to class (first class of the semester!) right after the interview, so I figured I should probably go ahead and get dressed.
Grrrrrrr. They're late, I have no idea why, and I seriously need to leave the house almost immediately after the scheduled interview was supposed to end (stopping only to put in a phone call to someone for an article, who I promised to call right at that time), and this is seriously going to screw up my schedule... Now I get to guess how much time to give them before I email saying we need to reschedule...
They called right when I told them I had to leave the house (which is why the interview was scheduled when it was, because I had to leave for class later), and she was so totally charmingly and sincerely apologetic that I forgave her almost instantly. There's the weird moment in these sorts of situations where you're like, Do I really want to work for a person who's keeping me waiting for an HOUR with no apology? But I think she patched that over, and we rescheduled for later in the week.
So expect a similar, AHHH NERVOUS! thread later in the week. :)
