I have a phone interview in a little over an hour. Should I be doing anything? I feel like I should be frantically... doing something.
Breathe. Drink a glass of water. Walk around the block to still yer (hot) body. You can do eeeeet!

Gargling?

Relax. Write down any questions you may want to ask so you don't forget them. Write done any points you want to make during the conversation so you don't forget them either. Relax.

Goodluck. (is it a job interview?)

Yeah, drink for sure...I suffer from a dry mouth during interviews, or any situation that makes me nervous, and maybe if you pre-hydrate it will help avoid that? You know, assuming you have the same issue anyway...

Knock 'em dead occhi!

Yes, job interview.

But it's part-time, for basically the same stuff I've been doing, just with a way-cool organization that does all sorts of good things. And they've very specifically said it will only be 30min, so I don't feel it's going to be particularly in-depth. So... yeah.

And thanks for the luck wishes!

Eat some protein. Sit for a few moments to breathe and center yourself. Smile when you're talking, it comes through in your voice.

Gargling?

OK, see, now I'm gonna spend the entire interview thinking, "Can they tell I didn't gargle?"

C'mon, relax, do it sitting on the crapper./
When they offer you the job you won't shit your pants.

Don't chew gum or gulp water during conversation./

yeah, point form, write down what do you want/expect, not demands, just what you can do for the company.

Questions to ask possible employer.

Don't discuss money and perks on the first date interview, especially on the phone.

have you had a face to face meeting yet¿

best of luck./

Good luck, occhi!

Good luck! Have you researched the organization? I'm interviewing potential interns right now, and I am quite disappointed when one has no questions at all about the company, our work, team, etc. A well-researched and phrased question can make all the difference!

Hope all goes well, occhi. And with a phone interview you can be naked. Or they can be.

Hee, essexjan. I'm actually probably more presentable right now than usual -- I have to run to class (first class of the semester!) right after the interview, so I figured I should probably go ahead and get dressed.

Grrrrrrr. They're late, I have no idea why, and I seriously need to leave the house almost immediately after the scheduled interview was supposed to end (stopping only to put in a phone call to someone for an article, who I promised to call right at that time), and this is seriously going to screw up my schedule... Now I get to guess how much time to give them before I email saying we need to reschedule...

I so wanted this to go so swimmingly perfect for you.

eep! Pins and needles! This sort of thing is so nervewracking. Did they call?
posted by taz 24 January | 02:06
They called right when I told them I had to leave the house (which is why the interview was scheduled when it was, because I had to leave for class later), and she was so totally charmingly and sincerely apologetic that I forgave her almost instantly. There's the weird moment in these sorts of situations where you're like, Do I really want to work for a person who's keeping me waiting for an HOUR with no apology? But I think she patched that over, and we rescheduled for later in the week.

So expect a similar, AHHH NERVOUS! thread later in the week. :)
