It's Better On Black [More:]

I like many of my photos better on a dark background, and that's one thing I wish I had the ability to change on flickr. Most of you bunnies probably already know about this, but fd's toys has this black background thingie which is new to me. How nice!
Much Better On Black

Yes, it is.

Really, I'd prefer 25 - 50% grey. I've never liked the total black or white, as it skews the highs and lows of the pictures too much. I've found myself redesigning a gallery website, and I think I'll go for at least a 20 - 30% grey to stop the screen glare that happens. A 100% white or black b/g always wreaks havok with the way a photo is originally presented. With the flower pic, check the density of the b/g in a comparison between 100% black and 100% white. All of this is IMHO, naturally.

Oh, I agree with you totally Zack_Replica. When I frame prints I always use different colors of mat board to see what I like best. Absolutes on either end aren't the cure. I did my blog kind of an oddball gray color to be a happy medium for the different photos. However, given the choice I have with flickr, I do like the 100% black better than white, and I was happy to find the black background toy.
