Has anyone else been obsessing about this tower game inspired by Warcraft? →[More:]

I can get up to level 36, but people who are getting to level 38 have almost 100 times as many points as I do! How the hell is that possible???

I beat it once, after many many days of trying. It lost its amusement after awhile, though.

I got to level 39, with a score of 16900. :D

I read something about people being able to post fake scores somehow.

And agro, I don't understand: I was up to level 36 and had about 2,500 points, but people are regularly getting up to 240,000! Are they ALL faking?

Yeah I've been obsessing over it. It took over my life for the first 2 days after I read about it on MetaFilter. I can't get past level 33 though. No combo of fire towers and rocket towers seems to work. Those effing bonus levels...

Oh, I came across this fantastic list of killer online games. Some of them are top-notch, others not so much, but this is a really great list. He doesn't have the Tower Defense game listed yet. I did spend a minute or two hunting down a contact email but I couldn't find one and then my ADD kicked in and I lost interest and wandered away.

Good list though! If anyone wants to meet up and play any of the collab games, start a post about it!

Specklet, there are some factors that go into your score. I think one factor is how much money you have. If you spend the minimum every round and research interest over and over, you can get huge amounts of money. Also, you lose points when creeps get through, so if you beat all 38 levels and the bonus levels without letting a single creep through, your score will be huge.

The tower game - I think ikkyu2 is obsessed with it too? Or at least he was, he may have beaten it.

Another way to make points is based on how quickly you destroy all the enemies.

Last night I scored somewhere around 26000 after beating all the levels with lots of shameless life-buying. I hate the new boss levels - they weren't there when this got posted on MeFi, and I could easily make it through level 31 without losing any lives.

Huh. I just can't save enough money because I need it to buy towers/upgrade otherwise the creeps start creeping through!

Hmm.

I did much better just then, saving cash and upgrading instead of buying new things as much.

Also, how can I keep researching stuff over and over when I need wood to do that, and I only get wood every seven levels?

Wow, it is MUCH easier now. To win anyway, not sure if it is easier to get high scores. But I suspect it is.

Issues - yeah. It's probably why I'm not play EQ2 as much any more. Higher-powered enemies, same old thing. Over and over, tho at least EQ2's got a few interesting and well-written story lines behind all the stalk/camp/kill/camp/kill/repeat/DING/buy new stuff/camp/etc etc etc.

Damed addictive in it's simplicity, tho.
