In all seriousness, I hope it does her some good; she's had a wild few years, and has done some real damage to her career- hopefully this is the turnaround she needs.
Why, it's almost as if the hothouse environment, minimal education and too-much-too-soon cashola of the child star isn't actually good for people's long-term health, sanity or sense of reality.
That's pretty obvious at this point, right? And yet Disney, and other megacorps with family-friendly images, keeps on churning them out. What's my point? That life bums me out sometimes, I guess.
Entertainment? Sure, maybe. Entertainers' offstage lives? Maybe not so much. I'll leave the weighing of great art against unhappy people and ruined lives to somebody smarter than I am.
But I'm not talking about drugs, I'm talking about child stars. Most adults are capable of giving informed consent. But I don't think kids are always qualified to make those kinds of decisions (and besides, they're not always the one to make the choice). I feel a little bit protective toward children, and when I see a Joe Simpson or a Joe Jackson pimping out their offspring, motivated by blind greed, clearly caring very little about the kid's well-being, it makes me a little bit sad and disgusted.
I think you're quite right about child stars, box. So many of those parents are totally creepy (don't get me STARTED on Joe fucking Simpson). Although, at least most of them are pretending to be parents- Lindsay's father is in jail, and her party animal mother is more addicted to coke than she is, I'd guess (Page Six had an item this week about dear ole' Dina getting finger-banged at a NY restaurant). So sad.
I seriously shudder to think what my early college years would have been like if I had unlimited funds, zero supervision and total access. I would have been a Lohanimal.
But even without all that, if there had been cameras following me around taking pictures of me making my mistakes at that age...damn.
