That reminds me of a Jetson's episode where Ellroy tries to sabatoge Judy's entry into a song contest but wins. It was something like "Eep Op Orp Means I love you"

Man, the useless shit that's in my brain. If only I could have put it towards something positive, I could have had a Nobel prize or something..

It's Ah Ah. Somewhere I have the Violent Femmes doing a cover of that song... it's hilarious.

ooh! Find it, BP!

I'll be sure to dig it out when I get home, taz. :)

yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

iirc, it's "eep opp ork ah ah"

i think that was a case of the old sitcom "switcheroo", where the decoder sheet for elroy's "secret code language" got mixed up with judy's entry in the "write a song for jet screamer" contest.

that violent femmes cover is pretty great. i seem to remember a whole album of old cartoon songs (saturday morning?) - the best one on there was the reverend horton heat doing a medley of "johnny quest" and "stop that pigeon".

oh yeah - butthole surfers doing the theme to "underdog". :)

That's one of the best cartoon episodes ever.

Eep
Opp
Ork
Ah ah
Get in the capsule, baby
We are blasting off.

Eep opp ork ah ah (whooooo)
Eep opp ork ah ah (whooooo)
Eep epp ork ah ah
And that means I love you.

Well now, I took
my baby for a ride in space
(Eep epp ork ah ah)
And met a funny little man with a funny face
(Eep epp ork ah ah)
He taught us both to wail this way
(Eep epp ork ah ah)
And nobody digs a word we say
(Eep epp ork ah ah).

Eep epp ork ah ah (whooooo)
Eep epp ork ah ah (whooooo)
Eep epp ork ah ah
And that means I love you.

Yeah I read my baby loud and clear
(Eep epp ork ah ah)
She just said I love you dear.
(Eep epp ork ah ah)
Now when I reply the way I do
(Eep epp ork ah ah)
I just said I love you too
Come fly with me!
Up high with me!
Come on fly with me
And now Eep epp ork means I dig you.

you heard the word that crazy word
That word you heard
Eep epp ork ah ah means I love you.

Hop on baby,
I'll put you in orbit.

I used to have a copy of that on a mix tape and for some reason I thought it was Shonen Knife - I never knew it was the Femmes. I love that song so much!!

Here's the violent femmes playing it to the La Vida Loca video...

The Femmes were discovered right in front of my favorite bar.

That video just made my day.

In a tale of synchronicity, I'm currently importing an old Mefi mix cd someone made for me that has "Eep Opp Ork Ah Ah" on it.

I hope they were okay.

WOW, the Femmes version is TOTALLY not the version I had on the mix tape, which was much, much more pop and had a female vocalist. I wonder if it was the original? I wonder if Shonen Knife really did do a version (there was a lot of Shonen Knife on that tape)? I wonder if it was the B-52s? I wonder whatever happened to that tape and if it's somewhere in the dim dark bottom of my car, encrusted with slimy nasties and pulled all out of its case? So many questions. . .

Ha! Violent Femmes to Ricky Martin was pretty funny.

Aw. My honey sings this to me sometimes. It's as close as he gets to romance.

Not the original, either. Although the original is really, really sweet.

I have this album (Saturday Morning Cartoons). Yeah, there's some brilliant stuff on it. It's also got the Ramones doing 'Spiderman'. It's a laugh riot, I tells ya.

Damn, didn't mean to hijack the thread, but man some really great stuff here. Just another reason to like the Violent Femmes. Weren't they discovered by another really cool band, the Pretenders?

And oh man, that Violent Femmes video is awesome.

OK so my memory isn't so great, but I haven't seen that episode since I was 10 or something, not bad for 32 years ago.

Oh, and here's the amazon linky for "Saturday Morning Cartoons"
