I just want to point out this excellent live Doc Martin mix session as a fine example of West Coast House. Links and[More:] This mix shows very well how house is much different than techno in both styles of mixing and tone and timbre, and how house is much more than piano rolls, disco hits and diva vocals. The influence of jazz, soul, rhythm and even blues can be felt here, as well as the (more obvious) modern club and technological aesthetics. On first skim I'm pretty sure there's 3 or more turntables involved on this mix. Direct link here. Directory archive here.

(Yeah, this is from that post I made a while ago. I'm still downloading stuff. :) )
Listening to this at 7:30 AM makes me feel like I've been out all night and should be heading home soon. Heh!

Thanks, loq.

You know, I know there's a difference between house, trance, techno, electronica, industrial, jungle, and all that, but I'll be damned if I could tell you what it is. I could probably judge, side-by-side, in a blind test which is which, but I doubt I could tell you why.
