That's brilliant, as is your title post.

Guys, the kerning is the space between letters. Often, if you kern the Ns in Funny too tightly, it looks like it reads "Fumy."

I loves me a good typography joke. But not to the exclusion of others, ie the "layman" the site mentions...designers can be just as bad as the guy fixing your computer, in terms of eye-rolling patronizing.

Ah, thanks, SassHat. But how is "layman" patronizing?

Reading the word click as dick is another great example of what bad kerning can do. Or good, depending on the effect you're after.

Man, I can't find a picture of it online, but in the movie Election, Reese Witherspoon's character was named Tracy Flick. She was running for class president, and made all these cupcakes with icing that said "PICK FLICK!" She picked one up and held it to the camera, smiling, and the writing on it was so tight that it looked like it said "PICK FUCK!"

BP, I love that movie and have never noticed that! Hee.

And I think the sweatshirt and post title are both very clever.

I noticed that! I had totally forgotten about it until now. Fun movie - I just saw it again last week.

Ok I got the title but not the shirt, can someone explain that part to me?

Somebody at my library made this sign last year.

No wonder you're having a problem picking a movie, box.

Mitheral, the zip lets one adjust the space between the letters, thus demonstrating kerning.

Very fumy. And thanks for the explanation on kerning. I had wondered but not enough to look it up.
