Anthropology books. Looking for recommendations on books that aren't too academic/dry, but still convey good basic info on the field.
There is a general consensus that Traweek's Beamtimes and Lifetimes is one of the best examples of an ethnography of a powerful American culture. It can be a little dry sometimes, but it's a very good example of how anthropology is conducted. Another great text is Science and an African Logic, by Verran. I sort of skimmed through the math theory bits (and I'm a scientist!) but the rest of it is very good.
