To blog or not to blog? [More:]I've been really getting into learning electronics as a hobby lately, and I've been thinking of starting a blog about the experience, covering the things I've learned, the things I've built, and observations on electronics and experiments in general. For example, a post about the desperation of the mall radioshack when you're trying to find a part at the last moment.

I'm conflicted about starting the blog as it seems like just adding more noise to a greatly decreasing signal. On the other hand, I could see a small group of people being interested in the experiences of other electronics white belts.
If it will make you happy to write it, write it. If you're doing it as a means to some end (make tons of money, become "famous"), don't.

I agree with TPS. It should be for love and for your enjoyment. Perhaps if it is a way to get into a useful conversation with like-minded folks, it could be a useful addition to the noise?

Myspace.com adds noise. Independent no-name blogs are merely ignored. Go for it if it sounds like fun.

Go for it. If you make it multi-user, I may be able to submit some material as well if you think it's relevant. I'm a mechanical engineer by training, but my world is becoming more and more electronic and I'm picking it up on the fly and applying it to things like mods to my car, appliance repair without getting electrocuted and stuff like that.

Also, if you're learning more about theory than just basic connection stuff (which is a lot of what my practical experience boils down to), I might be interested in the drezdn School of Electronics Education.

Even if your new blog would fall in the noise level for most people, it might turn into a featured blog to me.

I love you too, Wedge.

Though Wedge will hate me, I did start the blog. It's at cruelmachines.com in case you're interested in checking it out.

Thanks for the offer Doohickie, for now I'm just going to stick to doing it myself from time to time.
