Looks good enough to eat! This weeks Photojojo mailing contains a cool article about the art of photographing food.[More:] I know a little bit about food photography, but there were things in this article I didn't know, like:

Most of the ice cubes you see in drink shots are hand-carved acrylic, and almost all of the splashes in drink shots are free-form acrylic made by a model maker.

Also, one of my Flickr contacts does gorgeous food photos that I'm always drooling over, but his are more artistic than commercial, I think.

I'm glad I already had breakfast this morning...
Interesting photos your friend has, BP. I had a friend back when I was living in Napa that was that food stylist thing. It takes being a good chef, minute detail in presentation, even as anal retentive chefs are about presentation, those food stylists take it to a whole new level, and creativity. I never saw her work on a project, but it was amazing to see her work as a chef.

I bet, eekacat... chefs amaze me.

I'm not a big fan of "fancy" food when it comes to eating it, but as an art form it blows me away. One of my best buds works at a cooking school here in Atlanta (being from Louisiana, he's damn skilled in the kitchen himself) and some of the stuff I see STUDENTS doing over there just amazes me with, as you said, the acute attention to detail.
