Watching Betty Ford at Pres. Gerald Ford's funeral this morning is making me really sad. She looks just shattered.
She's stoic. Like so many other aging widows who end end surviving their husbands for a decade or several. Like my grandmother who survived my granddad some 22 years.

How old is she now?

She's 88.

She and the kids looked really shaken during the 38-gun salute outside, but they look more composed now.

It's beautiful and sad.

Is Alan Greenspan sleeping in a pew?

Yeah, I'm home today and watching, too. Very dignified and heartfelt. Having gone through my father's funeral almost ten years ago and, recently, my uncle's, accompanying my mom and my aunt, respectively, I can't imagine having it all be so public. With my father, it was hard enough just with family and friends.

I think when Georgie Boy gets his funeral, the 38-gun salute will be fired into his coffin.
