What does it mean? What does the phrase "You may now want to generate static posts or view your blogs", that appears after you've made a post, mean? [I may have gotten the wording slightly wrong, since it only appears after you made a post.]
OK, here's the real wording:
You may also want to generate static pages or view your blogs...

I'm sure it's a b2evolution message telling you that, if you have a high enough privilege level, you can generate a static site. Or, you can go off an view the list of weblogs the CMS contains.

Trickery. Pure flamfoolery. Flim-flam. Snake-oil. Misdirection, the slight of a magician's hand. A plot, perhaps from the far right. Connivery, underhanded and with belly dragging the ground. Wangling, diddling, contrived cabal collusions, utterly cooked-up chicanery. A fast shuffle, fourberie, fraud, funny business. A shell-game of knavish razzle-dazzle & monkeyshines.

Shenanigans.

IT MEANS NOTHING!

By God, don't trust it.

cmonkey - so if that's the case, it has absolutely no relevance to those of us making posts. Why isn't it invisible?

That is a question that I cannot answer, I'm afraid. Maybe there isn't a template for it?

What ARE static pages? What is an example of an unstatic page?

a static page is a page that slides its feet back and forth on the carpet, sneaks up on you and ZAP on the back of the neck. :)

static dynamic - it's straight HTML. nothing changes unless you actually alter the code and replace the old file with the new one.

LT, if static has the meaning it usually does, I presume it means a page that never changes, where the text and graphic content is always the same, instead of generated from a database like Metachat is. The opposite of static is dynamic.

i tried to make the programming equivalent to a "does not equal", but apparently it got interpreted as an empty tag.

static does not equal dynamic.

yes, b2evo is set up so that you can have a lot of different users each with their own blogs. I remember I tried to find that message page to change it a longlong time ago, but couldn't find it, and then I guess after a while I just stopped noticing the message. I oughtta go look for it again.

Nah, leave it as is. If we don't have at least a few users who are totally confused, we can't have any fun!

If this is the first time I've mentioned it, and I've been on Metachat since day 1, obviously whatever momentary confusion I've had at the moment right after posting hasn't had a lasting enough impact to make me mention it before now.

I usually am viewing a few blogs at any moment anyway.
