29 December 2006

Channel 4 news readers have a sense of humour I subscribe to Channel 4's "Snowmail" newsletter that is published every day as a preview for that evening's news.[More:]
Because, I guess, the mail is written by the presenter and there's a rush to get it out before the TV programme, there are frequently typos in the mails. Normally I let them pass me by, but tonight's really irritated me. So I sent them a mail to ask them if they possessed a spull chocker. And I got a really quick reply from tonight's presenter:

I am very sory Fancis - but the rong vurshon was sent out rather than the cheked version. Please accept my apologies and also over-egging the joke there somewhat.
Hee. Cute.

Though "over-egging" took me a second. I thought he was claiming to be into the eggnog.

Mmmm, "over-egging" appears to be British slang. It basically means "over-doing something". It's a shorter version of "over-egging the pudding"

Oh, that makes sense. I put it together after realizing that "egging someone on" means encouraging them to keep a joke going.

So yay for Alex Thomson. There was a little bit more in the mail as well - nice, chatty content. Pretty cool seeing as he sent it 25 minutes before being live on air.
