Are you sure you don't have a sinus infection? I mention this because every time I get a sinus infection it starts out feeling like I've got some kind of insane teeth issues happening.

Hit the other side with a brick.

I second the sinus infection thing, I was on my way to the emergency dentist one time when someone suggested an advil cold and sinus. If it's really the tooth and it's like a cracked tooth or something: Oil of cloves, they sell it with emergency filling repair kits at all the major drug stores- sometimes it's called whatever technical/brand name they use for the extract but you'll know it when you see it.. Don't swallow it or get it in your eyes. Works wonders in the short term. If you've ever seen Marathon Man, that's what Dustin Hoffman gets to ease his pain after Laurence Olivier does the root canal torture on him.

"Is it safe?"

I'm not sure at all. Guess I'll find out when I visit the dentist tomorrow. Or will he be able to tell me at all?

If he looks like Sir Olivier just tell him what he wants to know, otherwise Roy Scheider's death will have been in vain.

Lots and lots of anbesol.

From someone who just went through this a couple of weeks ago:
Advil Liqui-Gels, at least 4 of them, all at once. This is equivalent to 800 mg of ibuprofen/Motrin, and it was the only thing that made a dent in the pain.
And ice. Ice ice ice. Jam an ice cube right up to the gum where the pain is. Leave it there, let it melt, then do it again.

Any idea what caused this?

Go see the dentist, my cubie. A couple of years ago I ignored a toothache and wound up having to get an emergency root canal. That is an experience you can live without, trust me.

oil of clove if it's a cavity. tylenol. talk to a pharmacist - they're good at this.

A swift kick in the nuts. The pain there will get your mind off of your tooth.

Heh, I like the way you think, eekacat. I always offer to stomp on the mister's foot to get his mind off of whatever other pain he's feeling.

Joe, the clove thing really works as does a quick trip to a pharmacy for Anbesol. I hope you get to feeling better really soon. Personally, I'd rather have a migraine than a toothache.
