23 December 2006

Two trees fell on my house. Five days without power. Eight days without internet. I'm finally connected again! That sucked.
I have better pictures, but they're on my other camera and I can't find it.

Oh, agro, that sucks. We were really lucky here--for once the storm passed us by. How's your house?

Probably several thousand dollars of damage, but it's all fairly minor. Nothing came through the roof, no windows broken. We got very lucky.

Holy crap. A bunch of my flickr friends and/or RL friends were without power or had basement floods, and one of them had a tree fall on their deck, but so far I didn't know anyone who had a tree fall ON THEIR HOUSE.

Since you were without power, you probably didn't know that croctommy had a bunch of bricks fall of his building.

Wow. That totally sucks.
My basement flooded (I'm in the Madison Valley), but the PSU is going to indemnify me and my roommates for all the stuff we lost. Fortunately, we're all fine.
I'm living at my best friend's house in Mt. Baker for the foreseeable future.
That certainly was a storm to remember!

Glad to hear you're OK!

If "indemnify" means "give you money", that's good news, black8! (Except for the things that had sentimental value or were irreplaceable, of course.)

Croc still doesn't know if his building is going to be condemned, but he's strongly considering looking for a new place to live.

Sorry to hear that black8! And croctommy! Yay windstorms.

That's so weird, I was going to start a post asking where you were, agro. Glad to hear you're ok. A huge tree branch broke off of a tree in front of our house after a wind storm 2 months ago and speared through our roof AND ceiling. If anyone had been standing near it they would have been killed. I took photos of it - it was so freaky looking. The tree smashed our gutters, tore off roof tiles, broke a window, and smashed and destroyed a gorgeous japanese maple specimen tree. It was basically only one large branch but it did over 8,000.00 worth of damage. We had no power for 3 days, but luckily it wasn't cold out yet.

Jeez, agro that sucks! Glad you're finally back among the electrified. (We went for a week without power once after a hurricane, so I KNOW how miserable that is. It must be even moreso with the cold weather.)

Welcome back agro! For all in the smash zone, may the repairs be speedy and the winds blow gently for the foreseeable future.

Eesh, that's awful, agro. Glad to know that you and the diva are doing okay, tho', missed having you around.

I missed the info about croctommy. I'm glad he's okay. And it's great that your insurance co. is going to pay up, black8.

My oldest bro had his power out for four days (he's in Edmonds) and lost most of the fish in his salt-water aquarium. He's pretty upset about it.
