Venting about photo prints [More:]
I just ordered a bunch of pictures to be printed from Snapfish, but had them use the Walgreens same day service instead of waiting. (I wanted to have them for Christmas.)

Well I just picked up the pictures, and they're printed on the cheapest paper I've seen. They're flimsy, warped, and they have rough edges from whatever cut them down to size. This is the worst batch of photos I've ever paid for. (Yeah, you can do worse at home.)

I'm on the verge of throwing them away (and the $20 I paid for them) and ordering online prints that will show up next week. Argh!!
I got some done at one of those self serve kiosk machines at a camera shop yesterday, and they turned out pretty nice. You might want to give that a try.

Ugh, I had some film developed at Walmart ages ago. It was absolutely dreadful - the prints didn't even go to the edge of the picture. It was like they only developed an oval in the center and left the edges all black.

Return them! Definitely. One thing (the only thing?) good about those kinds of stores is how easy it is to return things. Just say you're not happy with the quality.

You could always try asking them to redo again on better paper, too.

For the record, I've been very impressed with prints I've ordered from flickr. (Just don't expect them to crop them logically!)

hrmmm. Snapfish has always been very good to me. I didn't know they had an express service - I always get the regular one and they send them out the next day anyways.

To be clear, Snapfish is good! Walgreens (at least, the location I used) is the one at fault here.

I've had good luck getting prints at Costco, and they use Fuji archival paper. I do have a problem with the cropping thing, next time I'm going to ask them to just fit the longest relative length, and then leave the white strips, I can cut that myself.

Croppng is about the only editting I do in Picasa. The have 4X6 and 8X10 built in that alslows you to chose your crop while still using all the paper.
