Ass deep in snow... Here are a couple of images from the current storm. Still snowing but tapering off...

Not great photos, but you get the idea. I'll have more later after I get a nap. I talked work into letting me go home this morning after 8 hours. I don't know when I'll have to go in again.

Whoa! What does Silver think of this much snow?

oh, man!

I love that second photo, eekacat. I can't tell if that dog is excited or scared!

Silver LOVES it, seriously! He's like a porpoise in it. I'll post some images later once I get some sleep. I just wanted to get an update in here. It's about a mile walk from work and I took a few pictures on the way. Plus some of Silver of course. He cracks me up in the snow. My neighbor took the one of Silver and I and it's pretty amusing I think. That's my house in the background.

That's crazy! I'm so jealous.

I have a friend who's supposed to fly in from Denver tomorrow night. I wonder if he'll be able to make it in time for xmas what with the airlines playing catch up on all the cancelled flights...

Awesome, eeka! I am snow-deprived here. Please let me know when the airport opens so that I may come to visit. ;-)

Dude!

I haven't seen that much snow in... well, years, despite living in a supposedly Nordic country.

The little snow we have right now will be gone by tomorrow :(

Wow, eeka, the mailbox photo is fantastic!

ass deep on eekacat translates to chest deep for me, incidentally.

we've got officially 25" in Gunbarrel. Roommate is now fixing bacon and French toast, woo!

I miss that from when I was a kid... We have home videos from when I was about 6 of my dad throwing me up in the air so I could land in the snow. My sister was so small (and there was so much snow) that once the sidewalk was shoveled, you couldn't see her walk down it because of the piles.

Gah- too scary! What if the power goes? I'm never set up to live off the grid.

Me too, youngergirl. I remember walking down canyons of snow: yards on one side of the sidewalk, not-yet-shovelled piles on the other. (Sidewalks were plowed routinely in Montreal; we had tiny little golf-cart-sized sidewalk snowplows.)

I also walked home from school along a chain-link fence (I still call them "Frost" fences, Canadian-style, but recently realized hardly anyone knows what I mean when I say that) against which all the snow got piled from a nearby parking lot. For most of the winter you could trek right along the top of the fence. My internal codename for it was the Khyber Pass.

After a couple of years in California I'm feeling mildly outraged that there isn't any snow in Montreal this year. How can this be? I need my fix, damn it! And I bought a kickass pair of boots for the trip!

(And s_r, my parents did without power for a week in the mid-90s ice storm. They had plenty of firewood and holed up in the living room with a big quilt over the entrance.)

Bah. It's raining in Chicago today. Go away, rain!

I knew Silver was handsome, but now I know his Dad is too. Thank's neighbor!

Oh man, that second picture makes me so happy!

Holy cow, that's a lot of snow. /obvious

Kaylee would be lost in it. The couple feet we had was enough to be up to the top of her back. I hope we get some more for Christmas.

And, embarrassingly, I just figured out eekacat was a guy in the last couple weeks. Heh.

Yeah, eekacat is pretty cute. I kept forgetting he was a dude, too, but I don't think I'll forget anymore, now that I've seen that picture.

Deborah. Some of us just re-figured it out with this post. Some of us had thoughts like, "Who is the foxy guy with Silver?" and then some us of were like, "HOLY CRAP that's right. EEKA is a man."

*pining for snow like I grew up with in Buffalo*

No snow at all here in Toronto.

I love these pictures! :)

I am jealous to a degree that has me strapping my snowboard to my feet and jumping around the livingroom.

Sigh. I knew when I was 8 that I wanted to live in Colorado when I grew up. WTF did I do wrong?

A few more photos, this time a little, but not a lot, more artistic.

wow. it's beautiful. I like the B&W's, too.

Another amazing dog pic! eeka, all your photos are great, but you're like the Ansel Adams of dog shots.
posted by taz 22 December | 10:38
Hahahahahah!! Thanks taz, I love it. I'll have to use that as a tagline:

"The Ansel Adams of Dog Shots"

Ooooh, nice photos, eekacat! I especially like the Labrador, very striking and my new desktop.
