Ass deep in snow... Here are a couple of images from the current storm. Still snowing but tapering off...
Not great photos, but you get the idea. I'll have more later after I get a nap. I talked work into letting me go home this morning after 8 hours. I don't know when I'll have to go in again.
Silver LOVES it, seriously! He's like a porpoise in it. I'll post some images later once I get some sleep. I just wanted to get an update in here. It's about a mile walk from work and I took a few pictures on the way. Plus some of Silver of course. He cracks me up in the snow. My neighbor took the one of Silver and I and it's pretty amusing I think. That's my house in the background.
I have a friend who's supposed to fly in from Denver tomorrow night. I wonder if he'll be able to make it in time for xmas what with the airlines playing catch up on all the cancelled flights...
I miss that from when I was a kid... We have home videos from when I was about 6 of my dad throwing me up in the air so I could land in the snow. My sister was so small (and there was so much snow) that once the sidewalk was shoveled, you couldn't see her walk down it because of the piles.
Me too, youngergirl. I remember walking down canyons of snow: yards on one side of the sidewalk, not-yet-shovelled piles on the other. (Sidewalks were plowed routinely in Montreal; we had tiny little golf-cart-sized sidewalk snowplows.)
I also walked home from school along a chain-link fence (I still call them "Frost" fences, Canadian-style, but recently realized hardly anyone knows what I mean when I say that) against which all the snow got piled from a nearby parking lot. For most of the winter you could trek right along the top of the fence. My internal codename for it was the Khyber Pass.
After a couple of years in California I'm feeling mildly outraged that there isn't any snow in Montreal this year. How can this be? I need my fix, damn it! And I bought a kickass pair of boots for the trip!
(And s_r, my parents did without power for a week in the mid-90s ice storm. They had plenty of firewood and holed up in the living room with a big quilt over the entrance.)
Deborah. Some of us just re-figured it out with this post. Some of us had thoughts like, "Who is the foxy guy with Silver?" and then some us of were like, "HOLY CRAP that's right. EEKA is a man."
