Animal couples? I'm striking out on some research I'm supposed to be doing. Anyone have any leads on long-term coupledom among zoo animals? (Yes, I already have the gay penguins.)

I think JonMc and Divine Wino have been friends for a long time now, although several states refuse to recognize their union, Occhi. Best of luck with the research.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say jonmc, the smoking chimp! and Divine_Wino, the lion who died of a broken heart! just to have a laugh. Nobody's a chimp and nobody died and I love everyone, it's just funny.

Do you really need zoo animals specifically? I can think of some examples in the wild.

Yeah, I was looking for animal couples that people could visit. I think I've got it covered, though, thanks.

And I have to say, apparently everyone has gay penguins. I feel so left out.

Speaking of that sort of thing, I learned something awesome from my landlord the other day, which is that there used to be PENGUINS living in my apartment! They had a big icy kiddie pool right outside my door!

The humans who looked after them were an opposite-sex couple, apparently. About the penguins, he didn't say.

Tangerine, that is very cool! Penguins!

I did include the komodo dragon virgin birth for those who were bitter about the pressure to pair off, though. Hetero eagle couple, polygamous gorilla family, gay penguin foster parents, asexually reproducing female lizard. I'm not sure I could have been any more inclusive there.
