"Heirloom whale barf." Woman gives her sister a nasty-looking blob she found on the beach fifty years ago. Sister finds out it may be worth 18 thousand dollars. (NYT article, with pic.)

Crazy how much it looks like the intestine it (may have) came from. They make perfume from that stuff?

Perfume - yep. It's one of the best things I've ever smelled in my life. Amazing. I wish I had some. A friend of mine had a 1/4"-round lump brought back for her from a bazaar in Turkey some years ago. It's on my list of things to get when I go to Europe.

A friend of mine once caught her boyfriend's puke in her hands on reflex (reflux?). I don't think it smelled very good, though.
