Pissing in a river, watching it rise.... I just watched Times Square, a movie I havent seen in about 20 years, and I always found this song inspiring, just like the movie.
I hate to let a Patti Smith post go uncommented, but man, I could never work up much enthusiasm for "Pissing in a River". It's an ok song and more than just album filler certainly, but like "Smoke on the Water" for Deep Purple, I think her other songs are so much stronger.
Wow - I haven't THOUGHT about Times Square in 20 years. Does it stand up at all? The only reason I saw it in the first place was because I loved the Soundtrack. It had XTC, Ramones, Joe Jackson, Talking Heads, etc etc and was a primer for many of high school faves. But it was also the start of my dislike for Patti Smith.
