16 December 2006

It was getting out of control, so.... before and after. Whatta youse guys think?
I can't put the photos up on flickr, because, even at 36 years of age, I am looking forward to surprising me ol' Ma at Christmas!

See I am letting mine grow out (for the moment, I might change my mind in a few days) so it all evens out and the universe remains safe.

Considering how much more effort long hair is, I say the smart person keeps it as short as possible.

You became about 10 years younger!

Duuude, you sold out to the man!

(actually, it looks pretty good on you. But I'm loving having long hair again. It's fun being furry, and sending out mixed 'gender signals' is kind of a kick in the pants)

I dunno. One of my least favorite memories of having really long hair is the drunk guy I knocked the crap out of when he kept calling me lady.

I think they're both good looks. Will moms be all excited that you cut it? I love that.

post-high school, I never got all that much grief for having long hair. But combining the hypermasculine (the beard, jeans, flannel & tshirts) with the feminine (long flowing hair, earrings & other jewelery) people kinda dig that, chicks especially. and it sort of jams peoples radars. They don't know what to think.

yay! It's look faboo! Much better!

The before pic was also the result of my using a blow dryer on it for the first time EVER. Someone at work wondered what it would look like, and theorized it would be HUGE. Not so big.

I've had it fairly long for about 4 years or so. I have it mid-back long in my twenties too, and it was time for a change. When I grew the mop I just cut off, I had had it very short for about 6-7 years. I really do enjoy the wind through the hair feeling, but with winter set in, I was getting tired of the dry time.

I like the short cut that I got...And yeah, since I work with about 95% women. some will be horrified that I cut it, others will insist it was "about time".

Looks very nice!

It's ok to blow, just don't throw any hair dryers — the judge might not be so lenient next time!

I'm a huge fan of the new look. Pic #2 says you're not stuck in a youthful rebel fantasy. Way to develop the grown-up hottie look!

I like the new look loooooooots. Very cute, richat!

I like the shorn look, I could take you home to Mom now! And I especially like your expression in both, like you really don't want to take the picture but you have to, are compelled to. Hehehe.

You're actually pretty cute in both pics.

Oh, I can see your eyes much better in the second pic! You have gorgeous eyes, and I like the shorter cut. Actually, my first reaction was "Russell Crowe"! (in a really good way!)

Thanks! You lot are good for the ego.

I can't see any difference.

Just kidding - I'm jealous of anyone with more hair on their head than their back.

I like it both long and short. Short makes you look younger. How're the girls taking it?
posted by deborah 17 December | 23:19
It's funny deborah, I wondered how they would take it. They both told me that I shouldn't cut it, but I figured they would be okay with it short.

Evelyn (our almost 3 year old) has never seen me with short hair, except for in photos, and she wasn't too sure at first, but it okay with it now. Sophie, who's 5 1/2, liked it lots!

Cute look, richat!

I'm glad they took it in stride, richat. Kids can be funny with changes like that.
