Help! The Danish police are after me! →[More:]Okay, not the real Danish police, but rather the internet policing division of the International Rasmus Malling-Hansen Society, who just emailed me regarding this MetaFilter comment, saying:

"By googling the words Writing Ball I have come upon a page, where you write that the Writing Ball was Swedish! I wonder where the hell that complete misunderstanding comes from? The Writing Ball was Danish, invented by the genious Rasmus Malling-Hansen."

You can confirm this for yourself at the International Rasmus Malling-Hansen Society.

I feel terrible for being complicit in the perpetuation of such an untruth.

You must be careful with the Danes, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

Also, in the 70s when my older brother was a merchant seaman his dog was arrested in Copenhagen for stealing sausages. The dog had to go to trial; they all went: it was quite the courtroom party. The judge was ready to send Sundown (the dog) to jail, but then my brother's Danish girlfriend Annika said that the whole thing was stupid and could they please just pay the fine and get out of there? Which they then did. Perhaps if you just pay the fine, chrismear, they'll let you go with a stern warning.

Man the only kind of lawyer I'd be is a lawyer for dogs, that must be the best job ever, a 1970's Danish dog lawyer.
