"Bottle-conditioned champagne lager..., double fermented in Belgium's world famous Rodenbach brewery, bringing out all the subtleties and character of its fine ingredients..."
That copy-writer sure as hell should have been paid triple overtime.
Breweries have been selling beer in champagne like bottles for years. Trying to get a share of the lucrative high end beverages market around christmass and new year.
Positioning is what the marketeers call this.
Lots of beers are available in that style bottle, particularly Trappist ales, and many of them are bottle-conditioned. This is just a cynical attempt to fool consumers.
I don't think it's the bottle that makes it champagney per se, just the fact that it's fermented with champagne yeast. I brew a very dry hard cider that is fermented with champagne yeast. I wonder what I should call it? Champider? Scrumpagne?
So this is made from the same stuff as beer, but fermented like champagne? Or what? I know next to nothing about how alcoholic drinks are made, and this thing is confusing my brain.
