Metafilter Is Still Down Boo Hoo Hoo. →[More:] Well, I guess I'll have to go out clubbing tonight instead. Who wants to join me? I'll have Jeeves bring the stretch Prius around.
Jager is pretty foul, isn't it? But if you chilled it long enough and drank an entire pint of it, I guarantee you'd be straight-up trippin'. This is, after all, FRIIIIIDAAAAAY NIIIIIIGHT! *cue annoying thumping bass coming out of 10,000 cars*
Back in my drinkin' days, my hallucinogenic beverage of choice was Tequila. Ah, sweet golden delicious Tequila!
I know many folks have problems with Tequila as well... often left over from the 'Man, I drank 14 beers and a bottle of red wine and then two White Russians and then a shot of tequila... man, that tequila did me in!' days. You guys ever have a Prairie Fire? Tequila and Tabasco Sauce. That'll make your bull run!
The three drinks I find myself craving the most, after almost two years of not drinking, are:
1) Red Wine
2) Ice-Cold Beer
3) Frozen Lime Margaritas.
Ah well-- when I was drinking, I drank more than my fair share. Good Times, until the times stopped being good, and then I stopped drinking.
I love Jäger (there's always a bottle in my freezer and one on reserve), but it's not one of those drinks that I push on others, since I've learned that more people seem to hate it than love it. For many a Jäger shot means that there is some serious over drinking ahead, but for me it's a nice stay-at-home-and-relax sipping drink. It's very soothing - I love a small glass (about 2 shots) while watching TV with Mrs Slack.
Hey Fuzzy Monster - when I wasn't drinking the only thing I really craved was that ice cold beer on a hot summer day. I found that Kaliber non alcoholic brew in the states chilled to almost freezing worked really well for that. O'douls on the other hand...eeeeeew.
There are something like 2,000 branded German Schnaps, and no two are all exactly alike. If Jager (which was originally formulated as a digestive, that you'd have a shot or two of immediately before or after a heavy meal) doesn't do it for you, find a better liquor store.
Jager is still a remarkably effective digestive, better and easier on the stomach than any Italian grappa, IMHO.
