You know, when in high school a knew a guy named Jean-Guy. He was pretty much your stereo-typical francophone. He would actually say, "tabernac on toast", which seemed pretty blasphemous, even to my anglo ears.
I like the Roman Catholic swearing for the most part though. I worked with an Italian brick-layer over a summer, when I was in high school. When that fucker banged his thumb, he would exclaim, "Dio porco!" which, as I understood it, meant "God is a Pig!". I found that a pretty interesting relationship with god. You bang your thumb, He's a pig. Interesting, no?
Pronounced "taberNAC!" ...you think they'd at least get the pronunciation in print too... The Quebecers I've met swear and use sexual references as much as anyone else, so this article is innaccurate.
One of my SILs is Quebecoise (and one of 18 kids) and filled me in on French-Canadian swearing. I thought tabernacle was hilarious. And weird. But mostly hilarious.
