This week's QI on BBC2 was particularly fine featuring, as it did, Graeme Garden, an incredibly sharp-witted comedian who has been in the business since the 1960s.[More:]

Most famously in the UK, he was part of The Goodies, but can often be found on radio comedies such as I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.

Anyway, during the quiz he came up with (unless anyone came up with it sooner and I missed it, which is entirely possible) an American equivalent for Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys: "Burger Eating Invasion Monkeys".

I laughed and, in the same way that people embraced The Simpson's phrase, I hope you take this in the same spirit.

I also liked his definition of demonym as 'a made up name for use on marches'.

But what was the deal with Alan Davies disappearing at the beginning and only contributing pre-recorded bits? Strange.

I liked the bit about the man who's done most to destroy the Earth.

dunno about the Alan Davis bit - I can't make my mind up about whether I like him, or he's an irritation. It's interesting that they're getting new panellists in. I was worried that Vaughan was going to spoil it (Vaughan was great on the BB, but that's been about it), but he was okay.

demonym was very cool - Garden is still a fantastically funny guy. Contrast that with Bill Oddie's utter flame-out on Buzzcocks a few weeks ago...
