The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Like a 3 point status report, only more so! →[More:]The Good: I went to buy cigarettes and a lighter this morning and the lady told me sadly that the only lighters they had have pictures of bass on them. Cool! I got a bright green lighter with a big ugly bass on it! Completely without ever even knowing that that was what I really, really wanted.

The Bad: I had to fight with the stupid bank teller to release even $100 of the two LOCAL checks I deposited this morning because these funds will not actually be available to me until MONDAY AFTERNOON. I hate banks. Hate them.

The Ugly: I am wearing a silk knit sweater and I was wearing a silk shirt over it to dress it up a bit and to disguse ze handles of love. Had to take the shirt off since I'm hanging lights all over the museum today and now the new, improved, with more matronly look MGL is on full and lumpy view. Ah vanity. Ah my fleeting waistline.

Good: Only 13 days to my holiday.

Bad: I am starting to worry about my flight into O'Hare on 14 Dec being cancelled due to snow.

Ugly: I am eating for Britain AND Australia right now.

The Good: It's Friday!

The Bad: Our e-mail server is down for reasons that are unclear to me, and the company is so stupid (I asked a customer service representative why we were all locked out of our accounts, and she said, Ok, I've reset your password and e-mailed it to you. Please check for my e-mail. Did you receive my e-mail? @^#%*@&#%@#@!!!). I'm going to recommend we switch our services to Google Aps.

The Ugly: Me. I'm having an ugly week.

Good: I'm flying to fucking San Jose on Haughey's dime for a meetup. Ridiculous!

Bad: Kind of mega stuffed up the last few days. Time for a Sudafed. I may be (extra) weird at the meetup.

Ugly: I completely failed to assure the presence of a credit in the meficomp liners for mefi's shortfuse, who made the freakin' cover art. So dumb.

Bad: For some reason mr. gaspode is in a snit with me, and I genuinely can't figure out why.

Ugly: Prospect of getting in a bikini in 10 days time. Yeah... not gonna happen, I reckon.

lol, pinky!

Good: I had a great time all day and into the night yesterday, as we went out to eat at a very cool restaurant, met up with a bunch of people, visited a friend who has remodeled her amazing industrial loft apartment - and it's farking fantastic, walked a billion miles and drank a good bit of some nice Jameson's.

Bad: I forgot my camera. BOO!! :(

Ugly: Our friend we are staying with has gone to Germany for a week, and I can't figure out how to work her washing machine (I swear, it's rocket science, really it is), so I've been washing sweaters in a plastic tub in the bathroom today.

good - my swollen uvula seems to be back to normal*.
bad - my car's still in the shop, and the mechanic can't figure out what's wrong with it. so it looks like i've got a rental car for at least another two days. @ $30/day, that adds up.
ugly - the traffic jam i'm going to be stuck in coming home from work. bleah.

* this is the first time i've ever typed that sentence.

Good: Mr. Rossi's giant raise has allowed me to fulfill my lifelong dream of having tacky, light-up, animatronic crap on my lawn for Christmas! The kid is blissed out and refers to the tableau as "The Funjoy." How great is that? I wish you all some Funjoy!

Bad: No one has any respect for planning. It's the holidays, people. We're booked solid.You can't tell me the week before that you absolutely were counting on us being somewhere. That's bullshit.If it was that important to you, you should have told us in October.

Ugly: I'm shedding like a motherf-ing snake. I just cannot get my body to hold an ounce of moisture. Cocoa butter, body oil--nothing seems to work. Any recommendations? (And also, pregnancy has exacerbated my potty mouth.)

Good: Just sneaked out of work for an hour or so with a co-worker, doing some early Xmas shopping and riding around listening to cool tunes in his car. It feels like spring outside.

Bad: The next two weeks are going to involve a lot of long hours and frustrating obstacles on the project we are ignoring today.

Ugly: My sinuses are finally opening up, which is good, but the process of getting all that crap outta my head (while avoiding facial hair) is, well, ugly.

B: my 9mm Luger earrings haven't arrived at work and I think they may have sent them to my home adress which could be a nuisance.

G: Sunny morning. Dog. Job. Friends.
B: Stayed up late trying to finish a fellowship proposal before a last-minute deadline, then (d'oh!) realized I was missing an essential piece and could not possibly get it together in time. Therefore angry abt. what feels suspiciously like procrastination and self-sabotage.
U: Very slow shower drain.

Good: It snowed a lot, so I skipped out on work today, the boyfriend also has the day off
Bad: The boyfriend worked 20 hours yesterday, got home at 10.30 this morning and is still asleep
Ugly: Went grocery shopping last night and now have so much exciting food that I can't decide what to eat

Some Good: Because my supervisor loves me, I get to claim "work is eating my brain" and go home a bit early today, hooray!
A Bit More Good: Can I have some job hunt mojo, please? Thank you.
Bad: Boyfriend needs privacy and space this weekend, which means I have to go back to my cruddy apartment and try to clean it, boo!
Ugly: I hope the exterminators finally did take care of that roach problem for good.

jrossi: Maybe vitamin E--either taken internally, or rubbed all over yourself in oil form. Alternately--shea butter or jojoba oil, rubbed all over yourself.

Good: I don't work tomorrow. It's the first Saturday I've had off in a while. And Arthur and I are going to help Brian install a glassblock window, which, if past experience is any indication, will be an experience somewhere between the Three Stooges and Cheech and Chong. (Also, I just advised jrossi4r to rub oil all over herself.)

Bad: I recently contacted the child-welfare folks about a library patron who is, with no hyperbole, the worst father since Abraham.

Ugly: Remember how I don't work tomorrow? Yeah, so that means I've got a bunch of crap to finish today. And, instead, I'm writing this comment, sipping gunpowder green tea and listening to the Clipse.

Good: I had a nice week of work with nice people.
Bad: Still looking for real work, despite everything.
Ugly: You honestly don't want to know how well I know Ugly this week. I ate Ugly, slept Ugly, walked and talked Ugly. In fact, the only other way life could have gotten Uglier this week is if I had been born twins.

Good x2: this is not the only week I will go through in my life.

The Bad: 6 to 8 inches of snow.

The Good: first chance to use our "new" (used) 8 HP self-propelled snow thrower.

The Ugly: Just as I finished all the important areas, the crankcase began leaking oil everywhere.

The Good: I just got my copy of the Metafilter Compilation cd in the mail!
The Bad: I got gypped out of my proper pay for working the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

The good: miracle dog trainer came over and worked miracles with our dog.
