Is 12 too many? I think it would be better to do 4 groups of 9. That's just me. Don't want anyone to feel too burdened.

You can put me in two or even three groups if you want. I'm, like, insane for sending things through snailmail. Just ask taz or interrobang or others. It's so quaint and real.

I think I'd prefer the groups of nine too. Just so I'm clear, we are obligated to send to all the people in the group? I think I might have missed that part!

I might have misunderstood in that I thought that we were expected to aim for sending out 10 or so...not that we HAD to send to the 10 that we were in a group with.

Do I sound grinchy? I hope I don't!

I think the idea is that you're supposed to send to everyone in your group. That's why I would support smaller groups.

It's good to have the group thing I think. I wouldn't want randomness to lead to some people only getting a couple of cards...

Yes, I think one should be "required" (as much as one can be required to do something like this) to send cards to everyone in his or her group. Sending cards to people outside the group is possible, but not necessary.

12 is fine with me, since I think most cards come in packages of 12, but 9 would also be fine.

essexjan: Eideteker and I are on the coal exchange list*. If anyone else wants to join us, then...well, I haven't figured that part out yet.

Since it's only the two of us and we live on different sides of the pond, I will exchange coal with myself and Eideteker will exchange coal with himself, as it'll be cheaper this way and we really won't lose much in terms of surprise (after all, it's just coal -- or, in my case, oil shale).

That's exactly the way I was thinking. Everyone signed up will get the full list of names and addresses, divided into groups. If someone's not in your group but you want to send a card anyway, you can. : ) I know I'm sending cards to everyone, since I have 36 bunny cards. : )

Just like a CD swap:

Divide into two or three or four groups.

We all send out one to each person in our group.

If someone wants to be in more than one group, that should be cool.
