i've got my ribbon on my wrist because i couldn't find the "night without lights" pins we made in 1989.

does anyone still do night without lights or day without art? or am i dating myself, still thinking of it in those terms instead of "world aids day"?

Saying goodbye to each of them was about an artless a day as I'd ever care to spend. Plenty of unlit nights as well.

Never heard of N. w/o L. or D. w/o A., but served on an AIDS care-team ministry at my church for a few years. Ronnie -- sweet, quiet, irreverent, mordantly funny -- was hard to lose. Elaine left behind three daughters -- I was pretty pi$$ed at G*d for awhile afterward. I finally quit the team after Wendy. We'd known each other thru 5th grade, most of middle school. Not really buds, but it was just a bit much.

Unfortunately, some asshats are usurping the "Wear Red" meme so today you won't know if a red dressed person is anti-AIDS or pro-Troops. Meh.
