MeCha Critique! Guy.com is the latest project I've been involved with...[More:] It's a "lifestyle blog for men," aimed at guys (duh) who're beyond the lad-rag age -- 30s and up. My partner and I developed it for the owner, Guy (yes, his real name), who'd bought the domain in 1996 and did nothing with it for 10 years. And KevinSkomsvold is one of the writers.

So, what do you think? Thoughts, criticisms, suggestions welcome.
Nice, clean, uncluttered look.

Short, sweet topics - interesting and well written.

I would definitely tell my guy friends about the site &/or read it myself to get a peep inside a guy's head/brain/thought process.

Sex page aligns left, not center and is hard to read with half of the words on the gray and half on the white.

Really? It's not doing that on my screen -- what browser are you using?

the evil one....at work we use IE on Windows.

I will look again after I go home tonight and I will be on a Mac running FF.

The sex page was the only one that loaded to the left - actually when it started to load it was centered after it loaded all the way it all scooted to the left - all other pages loaded centered.

Just took a look in WinIE, and got the same thing. Which is particularly odd, since all the categories share the same template.

Thanks for poiting this out, we're working on it.

OK, should be fixed now.

Here's the weird thing: it was a link doing it! One of the posts had a link to Flickr where the URL was http://flickr.com/... -- when we added the www to it, the page was fixed.

So frickin' weird.

Looks great! Nice layout, content and funny too! But when I like sites like this, I wonder if I'm not secretly a guy. *gropes naughty bits* Nope, all girl. [That was for Kevin]

It looks good. It's really appealing, and I love reading this kind of stuff, so too bad for them, but it's not totally a guy thing. They'll just have to deal with that. It seems well-written and intimate and friendly.

'Craig' is so right about the comedian thing. And I lurve KevinSkomsvold - he's one of the nicest people on the planet, plus he's entertaining and funny to boot.

I like it a lot (went through the whole thing) and had a similar reaction to Frisbee Girl's. No groping though.

One suggestion: since it is a blog, think about adding comments. Yes, you can send an email, but some people won't do that.

Now, if I could only find a gal's version, I'd be a happy camper.

It contains the phrase "boner-inducing Unicef" and slams both Jamie Foxx and Dane Cook. What's not to love?

Is it telling that everyone who's responded so far is a woman? :)

We do plan on adding comments, but haven't decided what anti-spam techniques we should add.

Heh. You might have a secret market. I think it's great; it looks really good, the writing is interesting and snappy, and you have Kevin! Woowoo! I read quite a few bits, and they held my attention, which for some reason is rather hard to do online... Somehow I just don't read the same online as off - so, cool. I hope the guys like Guy as much as the girls do. :) Good luck with it!

I like it. I like the style and the clean look and I like the content. How did you figure out it was that Kevin? He rocks in a significant number of ways. Comments would be a good addition, except that they may turn the site into a testosterone-loaded boyzone instead of a cool site with stuff that interests guys and those interested in what interests guys. Which would be a bad thing. Um, unless testosterone-overloaded oafs are your target demographics.

Ah, now I read the whole post, I understand.
*slaps self*

I dig it, but I'm not your target demographic. You might get the random mature for his age tweener I suppose. I'll keep visiting.

Oh yeah, and if you need someone to write about movies or music I'd be willing to do that.

You all are too kind. ::::blush:::
