I'm Flyyyyiiiiinnnnggg! →[More:]I just got my new 8meg broadband connection set up. Wheeee!!!

But I've come to realise that at some point in the foreseeable future I'll need to upgrade this computer. I'm connected via a USB ethernet adapter, because this machine is so damned old that it doesn't even have an ethernet port. But even connected this way my speed test came in at 7.5mpbs, and I was told that my line is unlikely to get the full 8megs due to the distance of the phone line to the exchange.

Yeah, my first thought was drugs too. My second was "how can I get some for myself"?

I am soooo jealous of you people and your super-fast connections. I was pretty stoked to be able to connect at 512 at home and many people here can't get any access at all to broadband. I had one of my anxieties about moving to our new place removed the other day when AirWebConnect did a signal check and confirmed that we can get wireless broadband if (as I suspect) I can't get ADSL there.

goml, I AM booked on a flight to the US, in 2 weeks' time! I'm flying to Ohio via O'Hare, for some r&r on the farm. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...

I think I will have a pretty full schedule for the holidays, goml, as each sister and George's mom have things planned for me to do with them individually, as well as family things with everyone, and I also have two other close friends in the area who want to spend some time with me too (and I with them).

Coupled with that, I don't drive in the US, and am dependent on people to take me places. The farm is fairly remote, so I have to rely on people to take me here and there.
