I play basketball every Wednesday. It's the only guaranteed form of exercise I get. But you know this, so I can only conclude that things like this are always scheduled on Wednesdays to keep me away.

Also, essexjan, you think I'd take the apple of my eye to a bar? He'd steal all the ladytention. It ain't like taking a puppy to a dog park, where you get googlies for being the owner of such a sweet frolicky pet. Quite the contrary: you get hairies for bringing such an angel into a den of iniquity.

Plus, I feel uncomfortable when I'm in a bar fulla bairns running around and making the atmosphere delightful. I like to swear at bars, and I hate to swear around kids. Parents shouldn't interfere with my drinking pleasure. It's like having grown men in the women's WC. They may just be cleaning up after you, but couldn't they wait 'til everyone's gone?

My nephew went to El Paso, TX for Thanksgiving. He ate at the kids' table for the first time in his life (his parents treat him like a real human being; he eats what they eat and engages and is engaged in conversation at table), and after he'd been served chicken fingers and cut vegetables with his cousins, he asked, "So, when's dinner?"

I like the way he thinks.
