Y'see the thing I like about old(ish) TV shows is seeing the places as they used to look like. Case in point - the X-Files.[More:]
Can't remember the proper episode, as the guide has it wrong, but it's about Mulder searching for vampires. Part of the show leads him to a nightclub. That club happens to be the Luv-a-Fair, a major alt. club in Vancouver back in the mid-to-late 80's, for anyone who remembers. I hung out there _lots_. So seeing that reminded me of the music, and the dj's who played all the cool stuff before it was "cool". Hell, I remember hearing Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" before it ever hit big on the radio, and I saw Nine Inch Nails before they hit it really big, and all they had out was 1 album and a cover.
So here's some music that reminds me of the 'Scuz.
No rock n' roll here, jon, just EBM, before it was called EBM. ;P
I've a feeling that maybe cmonkey and probably small_ruminant'd like these, among other peeps.

Nitzer Ebb - Let Your Body Learn
My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult - A Daisy Chain 4 Satan
KMFDM - Naïve
Nitzer Ebb - Murderous

Also, I have more remixes of N.E.'s stuff but I'm saving that for a radio show.
Alright! Thanks for the tunes! I was in the mood for some KMFDM this morning.

Nitzer Ebb and MLwtTKK are old faves of mine, Zack... there was a time while I was in college (mid to late 80s) that's ALL I listened to.

(That kind of music, I meant- not just those two bands.)

We've reached the point where X-files is old? Oh dear.

I love 70s movies and tv shows for this very reason... both the setting and the clothes/general vibe... Koolats and halter tops and everybody smoking...

Jon and I watched Taxi Driver this weekend, and I loved seeing the old seedy 42nd street again... I was just a kid, but I remember it well... Jon even asked if that could have been me, the Jodie Foster character, if things hadn't been different, with my father taking me in when I was nine and all... good possibility, I'm afraid, good possibility... anyways, yeah, the 70s were the shitz...

Oh, sigh. I remember seeing mlw/TKK at the *old* 9:30 in DeeCee in 88? 89? 90, maybe. They were (and still are) the most awful live show, ever, and it was pretty scary being two feet from Groovie Mann was seriously scary, but nothing could get us dancing like "Kooler than Jesus"

Thanks Zack! I woke up with "The Velvet Edge" by the TKK stuck in my head this morning.

These remind me of similar times, a few years later and down the coast a ways:

X Marks The Pedwalk - Maximum Pace
Haujobb - Solid State Logic
Trylok - Soldiers of Light

Lots of this kind of stuff in The Blues Brothers. I especially like the chase through Lower Wacker Drive when it had the green lights and looked kind of spooky. I miss the green lights.

I saw the TKK three times and they kept getting worse. The best show was the tour for Sexplosion!, and their stage show went downhill from there. So did their recordings. They weren't the same after the split, when a couple of them went off to form The Electric Hellfire Club. Sexplosion! is good though.

X-Files - well, old-ish. I always wonder what it'd look like if they had a slightly bigger budget for it.
