Tonight I am cat sitting for a colleague, and I have a noisily spurring, contented thing lying on my legs (which are slowly going numb).[More:]My Sopranos season 6 DVD set turned up today (I haven't seen it yet, so shhh) and in 48 hours I'm going to buy the first evah pet owned by me.

Therefore, although work is sucking somewhat, home life is currently pretty cool.
Aww! The second I sit down, my 15 pound cat plants himself in my lap for hours. What is your first pet going to be?

Phew, phat cat has moved - my feet have blood flowing into them, LOL.

My first pet? Well, for my first pet I'm going to be opening the UK branch of the Mecha sugar glider owners club :)
unless anyone's beaten me to it

You can be El Presidente! Thanks for all the help and advice in answering all my questions over the past couple of weeks, it's been sooooo useful. Her sleeping pouches turned up today but they were too big to fit through my letter box, so I'll have to pick the up. As soon as I've got those, I'm going to get her. I'm so excited :)

Yaaaaay!

And please let me know if you have any more questions!

They should weigh less than the cat, I would guess.

Cool, thanks Specklet :) I'm sure I'll have a few for you in the next few weeks.

CAAD - I hope so, otherwise I've bought completely the wrong stuff for her, LOL. Also, I really hope that something cat-sized won't be gliding around the place!

I've got a large cat who flies over my head from time to time, and it's not fun. Especially when he uses the hind legs to launch off my chest. It's like that free running stunt in the new James Bond movie. Except with claws instead of guns.

I swear Ace (the cat I'm looking after) sharpens his claws on some kind of whetstone. I've also almost finished writing a little ditty called "you're lying on my bladder and I really need a wee, but you're purring really loudly and I don't want to disturb you". Catchy, no?
Okay, that's it - everyone seems to have seen the new Bond film apart from me. I really must go and see it before it leaves the big screen

Oh, bean, I know what you mean. I usually have healing scratches and scars on my chest from Oliver launching off of me. Oy.

And gratz on the sugar glider, TheDonF. I hope she brings you much joy.

I've been cat-sitting my brother's cat, Bert. He's a bit neurotic because he doesn't fit in with my brother's girlfriend's cat/dog household and my brother left him alone a lot down in Chicago. He's the biggest, heaviest cat I've ever spent much time with. My brother fed him with a vacation hopper thing all the time.

* He had a huge waddle and zig-zagged up and down the stairs. I switched him to measured doses of food and the adult food variety, and he now waddles straight up and down.
* He's got sharp claws and loves to sink them into my thigh as a signal to be helped up.
* He can jump up on the desk, though, if he really wants, and then he takes over the space next to the computer.

I've been around cats enough that I don't let them push me around too much. This one does not get the space behind my butt on the chair, for example, or my lap, or my chest when I nap at the desk, or the place in front of the keyboard or the mousepad. This doesn't stop him from constantly trying. But I know he'll stay mentally healthy if I give him a firm NO once in a while.

He's a perfectly nice cat, although he ruined my aunt's ottoman (where my brother was staying). Seems like he hasn't started on anything here. My brother is supposed to be taking him to Indiana for his new job, but I have no idea if that will really happen.

According to my aunt, when my brother was in town he'd literally jump for joy. He's sweet but he doesn't do that for me.

Thanks deborah :)
* makes mental note to shut bedroom door next time looking after Ace so he doesn't come in and clamber all over me during the night *

Well, back home from work after leaving the cat here on his own all day. The litter box is empty, so he's either not pooped in almost 24 hours, or I'm in for a nasty surprise in the not too distant future.

Non-UWS radio, but fun all the same || This thread is where you describe the last person who posted.
