When I was 16 I used to wash up in a local pizza restaurant. I used to work downstairs and it was hot, greasy, smelly and tiring (the washing up was all done by hand and I'd have all the customers' stuff as well as the kitchen equipment). I'd leave work at about 1am on Sunday mornings smelling of onions, garlic, beer, anchovies and various unpleasant things.
They pumped music into my work area from the restaurant and one of the staff's favourites that they had on seemingly endless repeat was Joan Armatrading's Greatest Hits. Every time I hear this song, it brings back memories of pouring hot water onto the remnants of garlic butter to melt it, picking dried up slices of pepperoni from plastic tubs and lugging full-to-bursting bin liners of crud up a fire exit stairs.
So, basically, I am scarred by Joan Armatrading - she'll never conjure up romantic thoughts for me :(
Hi moonbird! Great song, haven't heard in forever. Used to own the Greatest Hits. . .TheDonF probably threw it off a cliff. . I have no idea what happened to it.
